Flow is not an experience that happens all the time; it is a state of mind that requires intention and practice to make it happen. However, it can become an automatic and spontaneous experience if you have a clear goal and focus on the process rather than the end goal, as discussed by Csikszentmihalyi, 2004; Cherry, 2022.

Practicing mindfulness and awareness of character strengths can improve our experience of flow. In one of the lectures in the positive psychology class, we discussed some reflections on character strengths and mindfulness in relation to flow, emphasizing that engagement and flow can be improved over time with patience and practice.

In order to focus more deeply on mindfulness and flow, we need to identify and translate our strengths. I used many tests to do this and in the end, my greatest Strength was:

Gratitude – I am aware of the good things that happen to me and never take them for granted. My friends and family members know that I am a grateful person because I always take the time to express my gratitude.

My Second Strength is: Curiosity and Interest in the World – I am curious about everything. I always ask questions and find all topics and areas fascinating. I enjoy discovery and exploration.

Strength #3 is Spirituality, Purpose and Faith – I have strong and consistent beliefs about the higher purpose and meaning of the universe. I know where I fit in the bigger picture. My beliefs shape my actions and give me a sense of comfort.

Strength #4 is Kindness and Generosity: I am kind and generous towards others, never too busy to help someone. I enjoy doing good deeds for others, even if I don't know them well.

And the last Strength: Appreciating Beauty and Excellence – I notice and appreciate beauty, excellence, and/or skillful execution in various areas of life, from nature, through art, mathematics, science, to everyday experiences.

If you want to get to know your strengths better, you can use the popular Gallup StrengthsFinder test. This tool helps identify your greatest talents and strengths that you can develop to achieve success in your professional and personal life.

Another test that can help you examine your traits and predispositions is the VIA Survey of Character Strengths (VIA Spiritual Strengths). This is a tool based on positive psychology that helps you understand your personal strengths.

Thanks to these tests, you can get to know yourself better and discover what strengths are worth developing to lead a fuller and more satisfying life.

The next step is to Discover and Use the Potential That Lies Within You.

Each of us has something that distinguishes us from others. However, we often do not realize how great the power of our inner strength is. It can be a talent, a character trait, a skill or a way of thinking that allows us to move forward in the face of challenges, overcome obstacles and pursue our goals. How to discover it and how to use it in everyday life to become a better version of yourself?

What is your Greatest Strength?

Your greatest strength is not just one feature that sets you apart, but a collection of skills, talents and mental resources that help you succeed, cope with difficulties and live in harmony with yourself. It can be resistance to stress, the ability to empathize, the ability to solve problems, creativity or the ability to learn quickly. It is worth understanding that "greatest strength" does not mean something that is only visible in big moments - it is also small, everyday decisions that we make based on our internal resources.

How to Discover Your Greatest Strength?

Discovering your greatest strength requires self-knowledge and reflection on your own life. It is worth asking yourself a few key questions:

- In what situations do you feel the strongest?

Think about the moments in which you showed particular determination, courage or wisdom.

- What motivates you to act when you encounter difficulties? It can be your ability to find a solution in difficult situations or simply the perseverance that helps you face challenges.

- What makes you feel full of energy and commitment?

Answers to these questions can reveal your hidden talents and strengths.

In addition to self-reflection, it is worth asking for the opinion of people close to you – family, friends, co-workers. Sometimes other people see talents in us that we ourselves do not see.

How to Use Your Greatest Strength in Everyday Life?

Finding your greatest strength is just the beginning. The key is how you start to use it in practice.

In Everyday Application, where your greatest strength can be used not only in key moments, but also in everyday situations. For example, if your strength is the ability to solve problems, look for challenges in your work that will allow you to use this skill. If you are a person who can support others, engage in team activities, where your empathy and listening skills will be of great importance.

Your Greatest Strength and Personal Development

Self-discovery is the first step to development, but it is not enough to stop there. We need to adopt strategies to develop our greatest strength:

Actively Working on Your Strengths

Once you know what your greatest strength is, it is worth consciously working on developing it. This may mean continuing your education in a given field, taking on challenges that will help you improve this skill, or seeking a mentor who will help you develop further.

Learning from Mistakes

Development is a process in which there is no shortage of failures. It is important to treat them as opportunities to learn and grow. Every failure is a valuable experience that can strengthen your courage and resilience, two key traits in personal development.

Your Greatest Strength in Relationships

Your greatest strength not only helps you cope with difficulties, but also influences your interactions with other people. For example, if your strength is empathy, it can help you build deeper, more authentic relationships. You can become a better leader, mentor, colleague and friend. Strength in relationships is also the ability to resolve conflicts and bring positive energy to teams.

Single Moms potential and strengths

We, single, non-working mothers, can also use these strategies to develop both personally and professionally, to use our potential and strengths.

The key is to skillfully plan and organize your day.

Sometimes it's autopilot and the same thing every day, but setting priorities and using tools, a calendar or various apps to manage tasks can help you use your time effectively. Support is very important. Building wonderful relationships with friends, women of the same strength provides emotional support and practical help with everyday duties.

Let's try to invest in personal development, it's never too late, online courses, workshops or educational programs can help you acquire new skills and increase your chances on the job market. Let's never forget about managing stress and emotions, meditation, yoga or regular physical activity help perfectly with tension, stress, quickly improve your well-being.

All our goals, short or long-term and working on realizing dreams is another technique and strategy of inspiring action.

More and more opportunities exist on the remote work market. I think it's a great idea for single mothers, which allows us flexibility in managing time and family responsibilities.

Discovering and using your greatest strength is the key to achieving success and full personal development. Knowing your strengths gives you confidence, allows you to make decisions that align with your values, and changes your life for the better.

Remember that your strength isn’t limited to the big moments – it’s also the everyday decisions you make based on your talents and skills. Think about what your greatest strength is and how you can use it to become the best version of yourself.
